The motorcycle helmet is the most important safety equipment possessed by a motorcycle rider, so it is very important to take care of the helmet. Part of proper motorcycle helmet care is cleaning the helmet when needed. This process is a relatively simple process that can be handled at home with some standard household items, and this process can also be used for other electric sports helmets.

Why clean the helmet?
The helmet's face shield and shell will come in contact with all kinds of dirt, dust and debris. From insects to soil to rain, your helmet will be exposed to this type of pollution. At the same time, the inside of the helmet is also very rough, because the helmet will continue to come in contact with your skin, hair, sweat and breath while riding. Therefore, good helmet cleaning should include both the inside and outside of the helmet.

First, the list of items needed to clean the helmet includes:
Microfiber cloth
Mild non-abrasive cleaner
toothbrush
Warm water

You can also use one of the many motorcycle helmet cleaning products available on the market. Products that cannot be used to clean helmets include:
Solvent-based cleaners, such as alcohol
Petroleum distillation cleaners, such as mineral spirits
Amino cleaners, such as glass cleaners
dish detergent

Second, remove all helmet accessories
Remember to remove all external equipment or accessories in the helmet, such as a motorcycle helmet intercom system or a motorcycle helmet speaker.

Remove and clean the inner lining of the helmet
If your helmet seems to have a removable lining, then you need to pull out the lining and cheek pads and wash them. You can use a washing machine or hand soap with warm soapy water. The washed mat and liner are allowed to dry naturally, not in the dryer.

If your helmet lining is not removable, you need to use a large enough bathtub to immerse the helmet in the water, mix some warm water and baby shampoo, and then pour the helmet in for a few minutes at a time to allow water and soap to penetrate the lining. Scrub gently with a microfiber cloth, rinse thoroughly, and air dry.

Clean the outside of the helmet
First, place a warm, damp microfiber cloth on the helmet and leave it for at least 30 minutes to help loosen the clumpy skin. Then, use another damp microfiber cloth to gently wipe the outside of the helmet until it is clean. Finally, apply a layer of car wax on the helmet to help keep it clean in the future.

Clean face shield
Your mask and sun visor are also easily stained by dirt and grime, so take some time to gently wipe with a soft cloth. Do not scrub them with any abrasives, otherwise the sun visor may be scratched. If your helmet's ventilation holes are blocked, please blow them quickly with an air compressor and clean them well with a cotton swab.

When finished, reassemble the helmet. Make sure that you have thoroughly wiped the corners and gaps with a microfiber cloth to prevent moisture from accumulating in the helmet.
